Fighting Back Against Fascism: Are these tactics effective?

Legislation and assertions of state sovereignty, lawsuits, war crimes trials, truth commissions … can we rely on Congress, whistleblowers, courts and government agencies to change the direction of the country and halt the advance of American fascism, or are these crusades just a distraction from the real work to be done?

Firestorm Brewing Between US States and Federal Government  – Blacklisted News 2/13/09

Could this be an ominous shadow drawing on the end of the United States of America? For years the Federal Government has presumed to be the all-powerful force governing our country, but it just could be that the Federal Government only exists at the pleasure of the state governments and the citizens thereof. States declaring sovereignty sounds like an act of secession and revolution. However the federal government can apparently be dissolved and another one formed anew at the discretion of the states. The existing Federal government may not leave willingly like so many European governments that are replaced routinely and it may engage a military effort with our own soldiers or the likes of a Black Water illegal military invasion to retain total control over us.

Several states introduce legislation affirming the constitution – George Washington blog 2/5/09

The legislatures of New Hampshire and Washington have just introduced bills declaring that they will not submit to the United States Government if the federal government acts unconstitutionally.

For example, the New Hampshire legislation would provide that the state does not have to submit to federal authority should the feds take any actions eestablishing martial law or a state of emergency within one of the States comprising the United States of America without the consent of the legislature of that State.

The Washington bill declares that – pursuant to the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution – all powers not expressly delegated to the federal government are reserved to the states, and so the feds can’t try to grab power not expressly conferred on the United States by the Constitution.  The Washington bill is actually virtually identical to bills previously passed by the California, Oklahoma and other state legislatures.
