On Washington: Pakistan an Early Test of Obama’s Approach – NYTimes 1/27/09

President Obama is clearly in no rush to terminate some Bush administration policies. The not-so-covert attacks into Pakistani territory are a prime example.

Raytheon lobbyist picked for deputy Defense post – LA Times 1/23/09

A day after President Obama issued tough new ethics rules for administration employees, a key lawmaker raised questions about his nomination of a lobbyist to the No. 2 position at the Pentagon.

Classic Case of Revolving Door at Defense Department – Center for Media and Democracy 1/12/09

Until June 2008, William Lynn was senior VP-government operations for Raytheon, the world’s fifth largest defense contractor. Despite that recent stint as a lobbyist, President-Elect Barack Obama has nominated him to become deputy defense secretary, which would put him “in charge of day-to-day Pentagon operations.” The nomination requires Congressional approval. According to O’Dwyer’s, “The Washington Post predicts Lynn will oversee Defense Secretary Robert Gates‘ program to overhaul DOD‘s weapons acquisition activity.” Before his stint with Raytheon, Lynn was the Pentagon’s comptroller and chief budget officer. He also previously worked as director of DOD’s program analysis and evaluation.

Did you pay the same ridiculous attention to the Bush Administration?

How is the attention ridiculous? I believe being informed is a key part of being a good citizen. The posts I linked to were on policy issues and political appointments, not the garbage that poses for substantive argument in the mainstream.

Yes, I pay attention to all politicians, across spectrums, and find them to be lacking. You seem to assume that I would not be anti-Bush. A glance through my blog would correct that assumption. Information is power.

Please feel free to explore my ‘pages’, listed on the left sidebar, for more information. We have more in common than you seem to think (ie my own posts on the economy and the abuse of power by corporations).
