The Gulf Coast is now a Police State run by British Petroleum

Video: Louisiana resident Kindra Arnesen was given unprecedented access to BP’s ‘response’ on the Louisiana Gulf.  This is her informed and heartbreaking message.  Please share with all of your friends and family.

In recent weeks, reporters and photographers for major news organizations around the country have been speaking out about the attempts by BP to prevent them from getting a first-hand look at the Gulf Coast oil spill. A CBS News crew was threatened with arrest when it tried to photograph the spill, and a BP representative in Louisiana told a Mother Jones reporter that she couldn’t visit the Elmer’s Island Wildlife Refuge without a BP escort.

Human rights group: BP discouraging crews from using respirators

“In all three states that I’ve visited, fishermen said when they went out to work on the cleanup, that if they tried to bring respirators they were told it was unnecessary equipment and would only spread hysteria…When I went out with eleven people, we had respirators on and within half an hour, all of our eyes were burning and our throats were closing and we all had headaches…The workers are concerned that this is the only job in town and if the go outside what BP tells them to do they might lose the only job they could get”

Who Died And Made BP The King Of The Gulf Of Mexico?

In recent weeks, BP has almost seemed more interested in keeping the American people away from the oil spill than in actually cleaning it up.
Journalists are being pushed around and denied access, disaster workers are being intimidated and abused and now BP has even go so far as to hire an army of private mercenaries to enforce their will along the Gulf coast. Are we suddenly living in occupied Iraq? How in the world did a foreign oil company get the right to start pointing guns at the American people? The last time I checked, BP did not own the Gulf of Mexico and did not have the right to tell the American people where they can and cannot go.
